A unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience as part of the lambing team at Broom House during the peak lambing season. Apprentices can sign up for an afternoon or an evening shift and will get involved in routine tasks in the lambing shed, including
- care of newborn lambs
- orphan lamb bottle feeding
- providing feed water and hay in the lambing pens
- mucking out
All Apprentices completing a shift in the lambing shed will receive a certificate of achievement. Availability is limited to a maximum of two apprentices per shift, ensuring full participation and supervision.
Afternoon sessions run from 2pm to 4pm (2 hours).
Lambing Apprentice is not suitable for pregnant women.
Please wear warm clothing or overalls and footwear suitable for a farmyard.
Toilets and hand washing facilities are available at the farm (all visitors must wash their hands before leaving the farm)
Visitors are asked not to eat, drink or smoke on during their time on the farm
Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult

No dogs are allowed in the farmyard at lambing time

Pre-booking is required. A maximum of two apprentices can book per shift. Minimum age 10 years (children 10 -16 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult).
We advise booking and making payment using our web based booking system. Please note that we cannot accept card payments at the farm, so we can only take payment by cash or cheque if paying on the day. Charges include VAT.
